The Brobdingnagian Bards (pronounced brob-din-nahg-EE-en) are The Original Celtic Renaissance music duo. They take traditional Irish and Scottish songs and give them a comedic twist. April Celtic Radio CD giveaway - Kierah is a passionate virtuoso fiddler, with a passion for timeless Celtic melodies. The artist’s high-level musicianship is apparent from the very first notes of the opening number, as she is able to combine technical proficiency with a spontaneous, natural feel.
The Pikeys’ sound is aggressively organic. Like a visit from the Ghost of Saint Patrick’s Day Future, they shiver the heart and thrill the soul. Ranging from intensely dramatic, hair raising adventures to bawdy and rowdy limericks about liquor.
When Bangers & Mash set out to create the band the idea was to do Irish rock music with a lot of their originals. Starting out in 2003 they already had a bunch of originals that had been used in previous efforts. They soon realized that they were going in a different direction then most other Celtic rock bands. Most of their songs are stories of either their experiences in life or historical events that they feel have not been highlighted. Bangers & Mash writes from their perspective of growing up in the NY City and Long Island area. As the years have gone on their music has moved to what we call Americelt. It’s a meld of Celtic Rock, Southern Rock and Folk which when driven by Fiddle or Mandolin and an Electric Guitar plus full kit drums gives them a driving sound that keeps the crowd moving while the stories keep the crowd listening and singing along.
