Lyrics: A long time ago before you were born
when you weren't a thought in your great grandma's crown,
there once lived a people away in a land
who lived in great peace and were the Earth's friend.
These people were gentle these people were kind
and never a quarrelin' among them was heard
for they spent their time listening to songs of their world
and they sang the Earth's songs all of the day long.
They sang to the stars and they sang to the clouds.
They sang while they cooked and they sang while they ploughed.
They sang to the rivers, they sang to the birds
and they lived by their actions and died by their word.
The moon and the sun would sing them their songs.
The rain and the wind would follow along
and the people were happy to sing what they heard
for it deepened their love for their dear Mother Earth.
Because they were peaceful and didn't make war,
conquerors came and they died by the sword.
For the warriors wanted their beautiful lands
so they took it away by the force of their hands.
Now, some say there wasn't a singer survived
that knew the Old Songs that were left alive.
So the Earth grew sad and the birds flew away
and their beautiful land dried up and turned grey
and the warrior tribe were sorry that day,
picked up their swords and all rode away.
Now, many more years then we know have gone past;
the birds since returned with the green of the grass.
And if you might happen to stand very still,
you may hear the ancestors sing out from the hills.
You'll hear the Sidhe [ shee ] sing out from the hills.
For the songs of the Earth will ne'er fade away
like the warrior tribe that rode off that day !
So don't waste your time quarrelin' ! Haven't you heard?
If you listen Their singing the songs of the World
If you listen Their singing the songs of our World
and They sing the Earth songs all of the day long
They sing the Earth songs all of our life long
The Sidhe Sing the Songs all of our life long, all of our life long.
